Driving the news: Sales of Elon Musk's electric vehicles increased 11% in 2024 compared to 2023, according to data from the Minnesota Automobile Dealers Association.
- Lexus and BMW also saw big gains, thanks in part to rising demand for their electric vehicles.
- Volkswagen's sales increased last year as cost-conscious consumers flocked to the affordable Jetta sedan.
The big picture: New vehicle registrations in Minnesota were virtually flat in 2024 at 188,000, according to MADA.
- Big brands posting double digit decreases in registrations include Jeep, Nissan, Ram and Mitsubishi.
