Stonegarden, the first restaurant by a couple of culinary veterans, opened this month in South Minneapolis.
Dig in: This is a breakfast and brunch spot with a full bar and cocktail menu.
What to expect: The menu includes several eggs Benedict options ($15 to $22), tartines (open-face sandwiches, $14-$22), omelets, soups and salads.
- One twist on the brunch menu: three bowls of broth for sipping.
The vibe: Bright, open and airy, with a highly attentive waitstaff. It's on the ground floor of the new Pearl Apartments building, at 54th and Chicago.
What to try: One reader told me the gravlax (cured salmon) Norwegian Benedict ($22) was the best benny they'd ever had, even compared with a $40 one at a Michelin-starred restaurant.
- I'm not a salmon eater, so I skipped and went with the Stonegarden Benedict ($15).
- I also got an $8 bowl of broth, which, at that price, I would skip next time.
