Vice President Harris and running mate Tim Walz won Minnesota in the 2024 presidential election, per an early Wednesday call from the Associated Press.
Zoom in: Minnesota has voted for the Democratic nominee in every election since 1972.
- But former President Trump saw his narrow loss in 2016 as a sign he could flip the state.
State of play: Polls conducted last spring and summer, before President Biden dropped from the ballot, showed a close race in Minnesota.
- Harris, who selected Walz, Minnesota's current governor, as her running mate in August, maintained a lead in public surveys following the ticket shake-up.
