What to expect: The small, dimly lit room debuted Saturday and is filled with more than 200 bronze sculptures, silk wall hangings, furniture and other Tibetan artifacts that date back as far as the 1300s.
There's soft chanting over the speakers and a faint smell of incense throughout.
Zoom in: The bulk of the exhibition, which is now part of Mia's permanent collection, was donated by Alice Kandell, a child psychologist, photographer and longtime collector.
Kandell says she wanted to give away the artifacts because they "belong to the Tibetan people."
