Bargain bites: Ococo in the Minneapolis skyway

Dig in: To kick it off, Nick visited Ococo, a new skyway Thai and Malaysian street food restaurant in the 811 LaSalle building.

What to expect: Rice bowls and hearty salads for under $12. Protein choices include chicken satay, tofu, Pad Kra (a stir-fried minced pork) and Moo Ping (a marinated and grilled pork sausage).

What we tried: The Moo Ping salad, which lays a large, flavorful sausage atop quinoa, greens, tomatoes, veggies, wonton strips, crushed peanuts and a plum sesame vinaigrette.

• For $11.50, it was a generous portion size and a nice changeup from the $15 to $20 salad chains that are becoming ubiquitous across the Twin Cities.
• Yes, but: It was crammed into a small plastic serving bowl that made it hard to toss in the restaurant.
