MSP Airport expands security line reservations to Terminal 1

Starting next week, passengers flying through Terminal 1 at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport will be able to book a spot in the security line.

Why it matters: The expansion of the security line reservations to MSP's busier terminal could be a time-saver for passengers without TSA PreCheck.

Catch up quick: MSP first started using the system at Terminal 2 in May 2023.

Since then, passengers at the terminal for low-cost airlines have made more than 50,000 security queue reservations.

How it works: As much as a week ahead of time, passengers can book a 15-minute window in a dedicated "MSP RESERVE" security line, according to an airport statement.

At the designated time, they show a QR code to enter the line.
Terminal 1's RESERVE line debuts on Tuesday, and appointments for flights leaving that day are already available.

The big picture: MSP is one of 18 other airports using a reservation system developed by Clear.

Clear also sells memberships that let passengers skip the security line with a biometric scan.
