Long before Joe Biden became president, he came to Minneapolis to meet Barack Obama on the campaign trail as the future president winnowed his list of potential running mates.
Flashback: Biden told the New Yorker that the Obama campaign smuggled him into the Graves 601 Hotel on Aug. 6, 2008, and the two stayed up late in a suite working out details of a potential partnership.
Two weeks later, Obama introduced Biden as his running mate.
Flash forward: Perhaps Gov. Tim Walz will get his own invitation to meet with presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris as she reportedly has him on her list of potential VP picks.
Yes, but: They won't be able to meet at a hotel called the Graves 601. It's been sold and rebranded twice since that late-night meeting and is now called The Lofton Hotel Minneapolis.
