Arizona Restaurant Week helped me find a new favorite dish at Pinyon, the Mediterranean restaurant that's rated No. 1 in the U.S. by Yelp Elites.
Why it matters: The $55 per person price tag is a steal for this Old Town spot, and one of my favorite happy hours.
Dig in: The saffron risotto was the star of the show.
- The creamy rice carried the saffron without overpowering the shrimp, while the merguez added a warm, savory kick.
- As a rule of thumb, it's hard to go wrong with their oyster selection.
What to expect: The three-course meal also features a hearty charcoal-grilled skewer with king trumpet mushrooms, chicken filet mignon or Oishii shrimp, served with basmati rice, tomato and a Lebanese slaw.
If you go: Happy hour is 3–7pm every day.
- Deals include $2.75 oysters, $3.25 chilled Oishii shrimp, $11 spritzes and signature cocktails, $8 wine and $7 draft beer.
- Pro tip: Park at the free public garage, 3888 N. Wells Fargo Ave.
How it works: Through Sunday, participating restaurants are offering prix-fixe menus for $33, $44 or $55.
- Call ahead or make a reservation.
Here are three other options I'm hoping to try before restaurant week ends.
- Hush Public House: It's the only Michelin-recommended Scottsdale restaurant participating in Restaurant Week, with a $55 three-course meal. Try hamachi crudo, pork chops, branzino and the acclaimed date cake, dunked in bourbon-toffee sauce and served with a vanilla gelato scoop.
- Saint Urban: Five courses for $66 per couple with hearty options like bacon steak, blue crab ravioli, New York strip and flourless chocolate torte.
- Starfish Scottsdale: At $88 for two, this three-course meal offers the most variety. Choose from sushi, Korean tacos, drunken noodles and mahi-mahi "hot fish."
