San Diego Humane Society runs out of room for dogs

There is no space left for dogs at the San Diego Humane Society's San Diego location, according to the nonprofit.
The big picture: The shelter took in nine dogs on Tuesday from someone in Linda Vista who had been evicted, which brought its kennel space down to zero.
By the numbers: The San Diego shelter had to send six of those dogs to El Cajon because it was out of space, according to a statement from the Humane Society.
- 129 animals came in across its four shelter locations on Tuesday, the statement said.
- 78 were strays and 23 were owner surrenders.
"We desperately need the community's help to adopt, foster and donate," the statement said. "We also need pet owners who lost their animals to come and reclaim them at our shelters."
Context: The shelters were already dealing with a record number of dogs and then, at the end of July, took in 25-30 Yorkies and 25 Huskies from "overwhelmed owners" who were facing eviction, per the Humane Society.
Adoption fees for all pets (except horses) are 50% off in August.
