The FIFA World Cupstarts today, kicking off a month of emotional sports moments you won't want to miss.
The big picture: Canada, Mexico and the U.S. co-host the 2026 men's tournament, with the largest field in the tournament's 96-year history.
48 nations will vie for the beautiful game's most coveted trophy. The tournament includes 104 matches through July 19.
Zoom in: Soccer fans can get in on the action at local watch parties around town.
The biggest party is the SDFC's free soccer fan zone at Fit Social at Belmont Park in Mission Beach, with big screens showing every match.
Novo Brazil Brewing is going all in with big screens and parties at its locations in Mission Valley, Otay Ranch, Chula Vista and Imperial Beach. These spots will be particularly bumpin' for U.S., Mexico, Brazil and Colombia games.
