There's a hot new deal on tender, juicy steaks in town.
Dig in: Grandson Steaks in Liberty Station opened in April as an affordable option for a steak dinner or lunch "at roughly half the price of high-end steakhouse," the restaurant boasts.
- The menu features seafood and Mexican-style dishes such as birria and tacos, not just traditional steaks and sides.
Zoom in: The Ribeye Family Fest serves up to four people with ribeye, adobada, birria, quesadillas, guacamole, beans, onions and peppers, and corn tortillas for $79 or $99.
- The grilled steaks β served with quesadillas, peppers and onions β range from a $37 ribeye to a $45 New York cut to a $79 tomahawk.
- Plus, they have a "Happy Lunch" menu from 11:30am-5pm with options like a ribeye with two sides like mashed potatoes and a salad for $34.
The vibe: Grandson Steaks is not a white tablecloth steakhouse. It's casual, with a large outdoor patio and a bright, modern interior that hasn't changed much from the Wildflour deli and cafe it replaced.
- Sit outside if you don't mind an airplane flyover interrupting your conversation every now and then.

Best bites: The house salad, topped with tender strips of grilled ribeye, avocado and crispy croutons tossed in a creamy dressing with a subtle blue cheese or Gorgonzola tang.
- It might sound simple, but it was so satisfying, and it was big enough to ask for a to-go box. My husband raved about the leftover bites of steak, even cold.
- To share, get the salty shoestring fries and shrimp fritters β mini crispy shrimp tostadas with cream cheese, a sweet glaze and greens.
πΉThe margaritas are $8, and the bartender whipped up a refreshing blueberry lemon mocktail.
