San Diego-based Masked Republic brought high-flying theatrics to Snapdragon Stadium on Saturday with Lucha Libre wrestling matches before the San Diego FC game.
The big picture: The team and fans celebrated the Latino community and culture with The Sleepwalkers' Cumbiabilly music and other special programming as part ofHispanic Heritage Night.
It was one of several parties around the city and county this weekend kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. But some Mexican Independence Day events were scaled back and moved due to concerns about immigration enforcement.
State of play: SDFC lost 3-1 toMinnesota United FC, but remains at the top of the Western Conference.
The team takes on Atlanta United FC next weekend and could set an MLS record for inaugural season wins with a victory there.
What's next: SDFC will host Club Tijuana, called Xolos, from Liga MX in the first-ever Baja Cup on Tuesday.
