Shorebird Restaurant serves an upscale, breezy brunch literally on the water at Seaport Village.
Dig in: The new seafood-focused spot opened in July after years of delays and a $4 million makeover of the site on the San Diego Bay, where the Pier Cafe stood for 40 years.
- The refreshed space has a modern, coastal vibe with a scratch kitchen, covered patio and panoramic views that aren't just for tourists.
Best bites: The hefty BLT&E ($21) with two over-medium eggs, thick-cut bacon and a garlic aioli was served with crispy, rosemary smashed potatoes.
- I'd order the spicy tuna eggroll with spiced pineapple, avocado and cucumbers every time. But at $17, I wish it came with more than two pieces.
🍹When it comes to cocktails, smoke and citrus played together nicely in the blood orange mezcalita.
Zoom out: Shorebird is one of several new restaurants that have moved in since the Port of San Diego took over managing Seaport Village in 2018. The Port has spent millions to make the downtown waterfront destination more attractive to locals and visitors.
