Pope Leo XIV once celebrated Mass in San Diego

State of play: After white smoke billowed from the Sistine Chapel to signal that a conclave winner had emerged, St. Augustine High School revealed its history with Leo.

• In a Facebook post, Saints announced that he had celebrated the school's 90th anniversary during a San Diego visit in the 2012-2013 school year.

What they're saying: "To now see him step onto the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica as the 267th pope is nothing short of humbling," the school wrote.
