The Wonderfront Music & Arts Festival dropped its lineup Tuesday, headlined by Anderson .Paak, Khruangbin, Peggy Gou and Foster the People as it continues to assert itself as San Diego's premier multi-genre festival.
Why it matters: The three-day event brought 42,000 people to the downtown waterfront in 2024 and was later purchased by La Jolla-based Events.com.
What they're saying: "The festival is a beautiful reflection of the city's spirit, offering a serene atmosphere where attendees can immerse themselves in both world-class music, art and activations," Wonderfront founder and executive producer Paul Thornton said in a release.
State of play: Wonderfront — which is scheduled for May 16-18 at Embarcadero Marina Park — organizes itself into days generally defined by complementary genres, rather than spreading every genre across the weekend.
Friday
Hip-hop and dance night: Korean DJ and producer Peggy Gou is at the top of the bill, along with house DJ Duke Dumont and R&B singer Daniel Caesar. Rappers Freddie Gibbs, Isaiah Rashad, and Erick the Architect will be joined by trance DJs Overmono and electronic duo Drama.
Saturday
The broadest day, with a lineup of rock, funk, soul, alternative and rap, headlined by Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals and Foster the People. Alternative stars Portugal. The Man and STRFKR, experimental groups Peter Cat Recording Company and Magdalena Bay and inger/rapper Janelle Monae will join Baby Rose, Neon Trees, SiR, Orion Sun, and PawPaw Rod.
Sunday
Going for a chill vibe to end the weekend, headlined by the psychedelic groove rock trio Khruangbin and San Diego's own Jason Mraz. Latin lounge rock La Lom and Latin dance duo Paco Versailles, join rock standbys Gary Clark Jr. and The Fray.
- Neo-soul breakout Jalen Ngonda, indie-chill Julien Baker and TORRES, and 90s mega stars 4 Non Blondes round out the day.
What's next: Presale starts Wednesday at 10am and general public ticket sales begin Friday at 10am. You can join the Wonderlist to get a presale code.
- Three-day GA tickets are $375 including fees, and one-day GA tickets are $165. The festival introduced GA-Plus tickets this year, and continues to offer VIP as well.
The intrigue: The festival is leaning into San Diego's love of EDM by expanding its "Electric Lounge," basically an on-site rave.
- That lineup will drop later in February.
