If it feels like typical San Diego County houses cost a million dollars nowadays, that's because nearly half of them do, according to Redfin.
Why it matters: The growing share of local homes with seven-figure price tags is making ownership in San Diego harder to achieve, especially as mortgage rates continue to rise.
By the numbers: Last year 42.4% of homes listed for sale in the county had asking prices over $1 million, Redfin found.
Zoom out: San Diego has one of the highest shares among other major U.S. metros, and it's nearly five times higher than the national figure (9.3%).
The intrigue: The number of cities with a typical home value of $1 million or more jumped to 550 in 2024, up from 491 in 2023, according to Zillow.
