Team USA to play Brazil in Olympic gold medal rematch in California

The U.S. Women's National Team is coming to California to play Brazil in two friendlies this spring.

Why it matters: Fans are in for a treat with a rematch of the 2024 Olympic gold medal match where Team USA won 1-0.

Driving the news: Brazil will play the U.S. at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 5 at 2pm, U.S. Soccer announced Monday.

They head to PayPal Park in San Jose, home to the NWSL's Bay FC and MLS' Earthquakes, on April 8 at 7:30pm.

Fun fact: The USWNT played its first ever match in California in San Jose at Spartan Stadium in 1997.

State of play: The U.S. is No. 1 in the world while Brazil is currently ranked 8th.

Before the teams met in Paris, Team USA beat Brazil 1-0 to win the inaugural 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup in San Diego.

The intrigue: The game at SoFi will be the stadium's first-ever women's professional sporting event.

Between the lines: The venue, home to the NFL's LA Chargers and Rams, will test a new natural grass system in preparation for hosting eight matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
