San Diego excessive heat warning: Find a place to stay cool

Between the lines: It called out the county's inland valley areas — including the cities of Santee, Poway, Escondido, San Marcos, El Cajon and La Mesa — in its warning.

Zoom in: The NWS says the highest temperatures during the heat event are expected Thursday and Friday, and should reach 15 degrees above average temperatures.

• High heat will continue through Saturday before a cooling event takes over Sunday.
