Reader recs: Olympics in our backyard

Turns out a lot of you are planning to head to Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympics.

What you're saying: Mary I. said she's looking into volunteering for the games, and is still holding out hope that some events will take place in San Diego County.

• So far, the closest of the announced locations is Temecula, which is expected to host all of the equestrian events (pending LA City Council approval).

Daniel V. mentioned his excitement that his 4-year-old daughter will be 8 by the time the games are in LA — the perfect age for a new lifelong memory.

Kirina C. said she'll make the trip, even though she can't imagine what LA will look like with even more traffic than usual (the city is considering car-free zones as one way to manage the issue).

What we're watching: LA28 hasn't yet announced the soccer venues, but it has floated the possibility of playing some games here at Snapdragon Stadium.

• That wouldn't be the farthest-flung venue — softball is going to be played in Oklahoma City.
