San Diego athletes win medals at 2024 Paris Olympics

• Kayla Canett and Sarah Levy won bronze with the USA women's rugby team, which trains in Chula Vista. Players Ilona Maher, Kristi Kirshe and Nicole Heavirland also live in San Diego.
• Hans Henken, a Coronado High School alum, won bronze in men's skiff sailing with teammate Ian Barrows.
• Taylor Fritz, a Torrey Pines High School graduate, won bronze in men's doubles tennis with teammate Tommy Paul.
• Shanieka Ricketts, an SDSU alum, made history as the first Jamaican woman to medal in the triple jump, taking silver.

💔 Heartbreakers: Local teenage surfing phenom Caitlin Simmers, ranked No. 1 in the world, went out in the third round in her Olympic debut.

• Six-time Olympian Steffen Peters and his horse, Mopsie, did not make it out of the qualifying grand prix in equestrian dressage.
• Former NBA player Chase Budinger and partner Miles Evans lost to Norway in the beach volleyball round of 16.
