Dig in: The Sonoran-style, bacon-wrapped hot dogs from street vendors that satisfy late-night cravings originated in Mexico, which explains why we're big fans.

• The grilled delicacy — often topped with a chipotle or jalapeño pepper, onions, a crema or mayo, and other meats like carnitas — are a standard menu item on the sidewalks of Tijuana and San Diego's Gaslamp District.
