An's Dry Cleaning named best ice cream shop in America

Zoom in: The rotating menu includes decadent and refreshing flavors named after fabrics like "canvas" (olive oil and rosemary), "velour" (salt, caramel and chocolate dipped cones) and "straw hat" (mango and passionfruit).

• The shop embraces the neighborhood dry cleaning and tailor business it replaced with its unique menu and vintage decor, including ironing board tables.

Fun fact: The staff encourages customers to take the flavor tour and sample all the textiles on the menu.

The intrigue: An's was the only shop on the West Coast to make the USA Today 10Best list, where the public votes on 10 finalists selected by editors and experts.

• Last year, it secured a second-place finish.

If you go: The shop has three locations with the original on Adams Avenue in North Park, Hatmakers in Del Mar and Athletic Field Services at Petco Park.

What we're watching: A fourth shop is expected to open in Ocean Beach later this summer.

What's next: To celebrate, An's will offer $1 scoops on July 1 at its North Park and Del Mar locations from noon to 7pm or until sold out.
