Pride is fully underway around the country, and while San Diego's official celebration isn't in June, there are some local events to enjoy this month.
Why it matters: Pride Month is an annual commemoration of the Stonewall Riots to celebrate and raise awareness for the LGBTQ+ community at a time when queer and trans rights are under attack.
Fun fact: San Diego Pride is celebrated in July instead of June to avoid "June gloom" — a move made after the event was nearly rained out in 1990.
- Plus, organizers wanted to avoid conflicting events in other cities.
Driving the news: The Queer Mvmnt Fest, part of the San Diego Tijuana World Design Capital 2024 that features Tijuana-based artists, wraps up this weekend.
- The seven-day festival includes workshops, panel discussions, film screenings and live dance, improv and theater performances.
Other fun events this month:

⚽ Wave Pride Night
