Reader Recs: Best neighborhood delis in San Diego

• Lit'l Pepper Gourmet in Kearny Mesa.
• The Girls Deli is inside an ABC liquor store in North Park.
• Clem's Bottle House in Kensington also makes a good liquor store sammie.
• BB's Deli on 5th Avenue downtown. Try a breakfast sandwich, too.

Dig in: BMH Italian is a no-frills, hidden gem in La Mesa that has a little market with Italian goods.

• I devoured the Ba-Da-Bing!, thanks to Kevin R. It's a hot sandwich with turkey, ham, pastrami and provolone, plus pepperoncini and the house dressing.
• Don't leave without getting a cannoli or the tiramisu.

The intrigue: Wise Ox is a butcher shop, not a deli, but it won best sandwich on San Diego Magazine's list. It has locations in North Park and Carlsbad.

💭My thought bubble: Moto deli, which shares a patio with Queenstage coffee house, is my favorite sandwich spot in Leucadia.
