Our native redbud blooms are out in full force.
The intrigue: Eastern redbuds are native to Pittsburgh, Southern Appalachia and much of the Ohio River basin.
They are among the first trees to bloom in April, and advocates at Project Redbud want Pittsburghers to think of them as our version of Washington, D.C.'s cherry blossoms.
