Dozens of tiny cabins just an hour from Pittsburgh deliver a low-lift retreat.
Why it matters: You won't need to burn PTO to stay at Postcard Cabins' Beaver Creek outpost.
- Plus, there are free s'mores.
The big picture: The concept of glamping went mainstream during the post-pandemic travel boom, driven in part by demand for "Instagrammable" stays and alternatives to crowded hotels.
What to expect: The cabins in Lisbon, Ohio, are roughly 150 square feet and include a queen bed or bunks, a private bathroom with showers and basic toiletries, and a kitchenette with a stovetop, mini fridge and cookware.

- Cabins have heat, A/C, electricity, running water, fresh linens, a small table, and large windows facing the woods (with an optional shade if you get spooked at night.)
- No Wi-Fi or TVs, with limited cell service.
- There's a personal outdoor fire pit, Adirondack chairs, and a picnic table. Guests should bring their own food, but firewood, s'mores kits, and bottled water are included.
- Dog-friendly with a $50 fee.
The vibe: It's a fast escape hatch from city life, well-suited for a quick family outing or a solo excursion.
- Throw on a podcast and hit the on-site nature trail, or skip the headphones and let the spring peepers do the yapping.

How it works: Book through Marriott or Airbnb. There's no front desk, and entry codes are sent by text.
- You can text with property managers throughout your booking. On-site staff is available to refresh bedding and restock snacks and coffee for multiday trips.
- Check-in is 4pm and check-out is 11am.
- The roughly 58-acre property includes more than three dozen standalone cabins. Rates typically range from $150-$200 per night.

Zoom out: Beaver Creek State Park, minutes away, has an extensive trail network, including routes along Little Beaver Creek, a state-designated scenic river popular for kayaking and fishing.
- Grocery stores and gas stations are within a 15-minute drive.
Context: Marriott acquired the Postcard Cabins brand in late 2024 for its Outdoor Collection — further signaling the glamping industry's status as a key player in the hospitality sector.
- The industry's U.S. market is poised to balloon from $561 million in 2023 to $1.3 billion by 2029, per Arizton research.
