O'Connor elected mayor; Dems keep court control

The intrigue: O'Connor shares many of Gainey's priorities, but he will bring a few different approaches to city government, he told Axios this year.

The results: AP called O'Connor's race before 8:30pm, and the retention races just before 10pm.

• O'Connor secured over 86% of the vote compared to about 13% for Republican candidate Tony Moreno, with 84% reporting, according to AP.
• The yes votes for the liberal Supreme Court justices were all over 60% with more than 53% reporting as of 10pm, according to AP.
