There is light beer and then there is beer that will light up, and Pittsburgh Brewing Company will soon accomplish both.
The intrigue: The brewery known for Iron City and IC Light recently started advertising on the famed Duquesne Brewery Clock, a 60-foot timepiece that towers several stories over the city's South Side.
- The new Iron City clock will be lit up Thursday at 8:30pm, according to a press release.
What they're saying: Pittsburgh Brewing Company sees the clock as a full-circle moment, president Todd Zwicker tells Axios.
- The clock was associated for years with Duquesne Pilsener, one of the city's oldest breweries, and Pittsburgh Brewing is glad to see beer advertising on the clock once again.
- Zwicker said he is happy Iron City is back with a prominent physical advertising space after the company moved off the Mount Washington billboard.
Between the lines: Because the lights are on photocell technology, they won't just be visible at night; they will also come on anytime during Pittsburgh's numerous cloudy days, said Zwicker.

Catch up quick: The towering landmark has been around: built for Coca-Cola in the 1930s, moved from Mount Washington to the South Side in the '60s, and dressed in everything from phone company logos to soda ads.
- The clock was last lit up when AT&T sponsored it starting in October 2009, but ended its lease about a decade ago.
Fun fact: The clock is nearly twice the size of London's Big Ben and it's the largest clock in the U.S.
