Iron City's name now tops giant South Side clock

Now that Mount Washington's iconic Iron City ad is gone — replaced by law firm Pond Lehocky — Pittsburgh Brewing Co. is claiming another city sightline, the South Side's 60-foot Duquesne Brewery Clock.
The latest: Crews on Thursday finished painting the historic clock bright red and stamped it with "Iron City Beer" lettering, covering the gray face it has worn for nearly a decade above South 21st and Mary streets.
- Pittsburgh Brewing Co. did not respond to Axios' request for comment.
Fun fact: The clock is nearly twice the size of London's Big Ben.
Flashback: The towering landmark has been around: built for Coca-Cola in the 1930s, moved from Mount Washington to the South Side in the '60s, and dressed in everything from phone company logos to soda ads.
