Fet-Fisk named James Beard Award finalist

One of Pittsburgh's hottest restaurants was named a James Beard Award finalist on Wednesday.

Why it matters: Recognition from the James Beard Foundation, which runs one of the most prestigious awards in the restaurant industry, places Fet Fisk, and Pittsburgh, on the dining map.

Driving the news: Fet-Fisk is one of 10 finalists for the national best new restaurant category.

Zoom in: The Scandinavian restaurant in Bloomfield specializes in seafood dishes inspired by Nordic culture.

Chef/owner Nik Forsberg's passion project, which started as a pop-up business, has paid off with national recognition and reservations fully booked over a month out.

Zoom out: Apteka chefs Kate Lasky and Tomasz Skowronski and Chengdu Gourmet chef Wei Zhu were named best chef semifinalists in the Mid-Atlantic region, but did not advance to the finalist round.
