Our eccentric mascots can elicit fear and joy among fans and foes alike.

Case in point: Major League Baseball fans recently crowned the Pirate Parrot third most intimidating baseball mascot in a national survey of 2,000 people — outpaced only by the Phillie Phanatic and D. Baxter the Bobcat.

Yes, but: We don't see it. The Parrot hasn't been scary in decades. And he's certainly less menacing than San Diego's uncanny Swinging Friar.

This got us thinking: Who is Western Pennsylvania's creepiest mascot? Our blue-collar fever dream Steely McBeam? The infamous Mr. Yuk?
