The Miami Heat are going all out for the release of "Grand Theft Auto VI" with a special-edition uniform and GTA-themed night at the Kaseya Center.
Why it matters: The highly anticipated video game is set in a fictionalized version of Miami called Vice City — and the Heat are capitalizing on the global attention that will bring.
Driving the news: The basketball team partnered with the game's developers to install a "Welcome to Vice City" sign that lit up the Kaseya Center rooftop for the first time on Thursday.
- On Friday, the Heat announced that during their Nov. 18 home game against the Milwaukee Bucks — the night before GTA is released — the team will play under the name "Vice City" with new uniforms, a court design and fan activations.
- "A Night in Vice City will transform the Kaseya Center into Vice City — showcasing the Miami-inspired setting of Grand Theft Auto VI — for a first-of-its-kind sports crossover experience," the team announced in a news release.
- It's a natural fit for a team that already has popular pastel-colored Vice edition jerseys. Tickets for the game are starting at $100.
What's next: Fans will have to wait to see what the uniforms and court look like, but the team already launched a Vice City clothing collection through the Heat store.
