What's going up: Global architecture firm tapped for latest Design District building

Palm Aire: The North Miami Beach complex on the former Nova Southeastern University campus will include five buildings of varying stories, the Real Deal reported.

• The 728-unit multifamily project is expected to begin development by the end of the month, per the outlet.

The Sweetbird North Building: The architectural project by global architecture firm Snøhetta will break ground on Sept. 30 in the Design District, according to a news release.

• The eight-story mixed-use development will have retail spaces on the first and second floors, while the remaining floors will be dedicated office spaces, according to Dazeen, the architecture and design magazine.
• Initial design renderings show the building covered in a glass facade and then a second mesh facade, per the magazine.

Aurevi: The 16-story mixed-use project in North Miami was recently approved by the North Miami Planning Commission on a conditional use permit, the South Florida Business Journal reported.

• The proposal includes 225 apartments, amenities like a gym, pickle ball courts and a pool, plus retail space.
• The more-than-$77 million project will redevelop the community center.
