Miami Gardens elections: Here's who's running

Seat 2: Three candidates are running to succeed Reggie Leon, who is being termed out.

• Lavern V. Deer, former chief administrative aide to the Broward County mayor and founder of a global nonprofit, is focused on housing affordability and food security, per Miami Times Online.
• Paul V. Wilson Jr., U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson's son, says he'll create better transportation and housing for seniors, strengthen community policing, and support youth diversion programs.
• Candidate Linnette Smith does not appear to have a campaign website.

Seat 4: Three candidates are running to fill this vacant seat.

• Mykita Cherry-Prime, who is the department chair at Miami Norland Senior High, is campaigning on education, health and safety, particularly traffic safety, the Miami Times Online reported.
• Rod Mack, former UM football player, told Hy-Lo News he supports growing the city's tax base through new development and working to address traffic problems around Hard Rock Stadium.
• Angela Maria Wynter, a business owner, is campaigning on modernizing the city's infrastructure, supporting local businesses, and investing in mental health resources and youth programs.
