Over the next few weeks, I'll be featuring some of my favorite lunch spots around Miami.
- 🥁 First up: Tinta y Cafe.
Why it matters: In Miami, a $13 sandwich is something to write home about.
🍌 What I get: I visited the Miami Shores location recently and got the mini madurito, which comes with sweet plantain, pork, caramelized onion, cantimpalo, Swiss cheese, and garlic aioli.
- I had never tried plantain in a sandwich before but I'm so glad I've seen the light. The sweetness and smooth texture contrast very well with the more savory and crispy bits of the sandwich.
👏 Honorable mention: The honey mustard chicken salad ($18) is nutritious and delicious.
- You've got the usual suspects: Romaine, chicken breast, tomato, red onion and honey mustard vinaigrette.
- But the secret ingredients are the manchego crisps and diced provolone.
🍻 Wash it down with a Sunrise Wheat ale from Tripping Animals and grab a table out front to enjoy the shaded views of Miami Shores.
