Barra Callao's small ceviche counter punches above its weight

Martin and I recently dined at Barra Callao in North Miami Beach and it's our duty as journalists to tell you about it!
The vibe: The small ceviche counter in an unassuming plaza feels both extremely casual and special.
- There's the fluorescent-style lighting, neon signs and laid-back energy and a front-row seat to the chef elegantly plating our fresh ceviche.
What we ordered: We started with the fish ceviche with medium heat: citrusy, fresh and a nice kick.
- Spicy Tuna Causa: For a potato-heavy dish, this was surprisingly light and airy. Cucumbers added a nice crunch and the bluefin tuna had that perfect buttery texture.
- Cilantro Seafood Rice: Think of this like paella, complete with copious amounts of seafood. Delicious.
Between the lines: The restaurant's 12-seat counter meant we had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated, and it did take a bit to place our order once we were.
- But watching the chef make and plate every dish by hand reminded us it was worth it.
The bottom line: Sometimes you just need to have a delicious, impromptu lunch with your coworker/friend on a Friday afternoon!
- Barra Callao is the perfect place for it.
