Pubbelly Sushi is a Sunset Harbour staple for a reason

• Since opening in 2011, it's expanded, with locations in Aventura, Dadeland, Pembroke Pines, Boca, Brickell and West Palm Beach.

Between the lines: The OG Pubbelly gastropub, which opened in 2010 in Sunset Harbour, closed in 2019.

The intrigue: The menu, known for Japanese- and Latin-inspired dishes, changes about every two years to allow for chefs' creativity and meet customer demands, per the Miami Herald.

What we ordered: We started with the spicy edamame (traditional and bbq salt are also available). These were extra garlicky, which we enjoyed.

• Korean wings: Sweet and savory, with a little kick.
• Bigeye Tuna Roll: Essentially crispy rice. Good, nice hint of truffle, but could have been crispier.
• California and Dragon rolls: Classic, satisfying rolls.

The standout dish: The pork belly kimchee fried rice had a subtle sweetness (pineapple bits) and was topped with a perfect egg.

The bottom line: There's a reason folks love it.

• The Sunset Harbour location is inviting, staff is friendly and the menu features classic, reliable dishes with a handful of more creative ones, too.
