What's going up: A new hospital, affordable housing, another luxury development

Here's the latest in development news from across the city.
🏥 The University of Miami is hoping to build a hospital on its campus, a complex that would include inpatient, outpatient and emergency care, according to the South Florida Business Journal.
- The plans, which will be reviewed by the Coral Gables Development Review Committee on Jan. 30, require amendments to the area's zoning code and would extend the campus south.
👷 Little River Plaza broke ground Jan. 23 to bring 250 affordable homes to the growing area.
- The project, a collaboration between the Ft. Lauderdale-based Glavovic Studio and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation's Healthy Housing Foundation, will serve residents earning up to 50% of the area median income.
🧘 THE WELL Coconut Grove, a mixed-use eight-story development, broke ground Jan. 27 and is set to open in late 2028.
- The project will include 194 residences tailored for "individuals who view wellness as a foundational element to lifestyle rather than a convenience or trend," per a news release.
- The property includes one- to four-bedroom units, ranging from 960-4,200 sq. ft. Pricing starts at $1.5 million.
- The development will include a 40,000 sq. ft. "wellness oasis," featuring a swimming pool, hot and cold plunges, cabanas and a pickleball court; a 13,000-sq. ft. wellness center and personalized wellness services.
