CFP championship ticketing predicts split fanbase at Hard Rock Stadium

• The crowd, though, is looking like it'll be a "pretty even split," a spokesperson from VividSeats told Axios. "[UM] will have 50% of the crowd and the Hoosiers will have 50% of fans."

The intrigue: Miami is the first team in the College Football Playoff era (which dates back to the 2014–15 season) to play for the national title at home.

• Other teams have come close: The University of Georgia, based in Athens, Ga., lost the 2018 title game in Atlanta, while Louisiana State University, based in Baton Rouge, won the 2020 championship in New Orleans.

The big picture: The predicted stadium split may not be a surprise for those who've been following this year's playoff run.

• Hoosiers fans took over the Peach Bowl CFP semifinals in Atlanta last week and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on New Year's Day. (Earlier this year, the school claimed to have "the largest alumni community in the country," the Athletic reported.)
• Meanwhile, earlier this week, a billboard supporting the Hoosiers popped up near the airport.

The bottom line: UM shouldn't count on Monday's championship feeling like a home game just because it's on home turf.
