Our take: I watched the special with my brother and sis-in-law (we all grew up in Miami in Latin families) and loved it.

• We understood the cultural references and the nostalgia of growing up here, but wondered if those living in predominantly white parts of the country would find it funny.

The bottom line: I'm not a comedy expert or critic, but if you're looking for a show that's entertaining, funny and culturally relevant, watch Hernández's.
