How to recycle your Christmas tree in Miami

♻️ The big picture: Many local governments have recycling programs for Christmas trees.

• The trees should be clean and free of decorations. No artificial trees allowed.

Miami-Dade County trash customers can recycle their trees at designated curbside pick-ups or by dropping them off at a trash and recycling center.

• The first curbside tree collection begins today (Jan. 7) and will occur every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday through Jan. 18.
• The final collection will be from Jan. 21-Feb. 1.
• Christmas trees collected at the curbside or dropped off at TRCs will be turned into mulch. If you've got proof of residency, you can pick up free mulch in the spring. Sign up here.

Miami Beach single-family home residents have their own curbside tree pick-up this month. Residents can also drop off trees at a designated disposal area.

Broward County residents can recycle their tree at one of 10 participating county parks every day through Jan. 19.

• The tree chips will be used for landscaping around the park system.
• Limit of two trees per vehicle. Free park entry for recyclers.

Fort Lauderdale residents can also place their trees on the curb through Jan. 20 for recycling.
