Miami's newest live music venue, Doral Amphitheater, will launch its inaugural season Friday, kicking off the next era in Miami's music scene.
Why it matters: The venue — a collaboration between the city of Doral and Miami-based entertainment company Loud and Live — is the latest example of Doral's continued growth and economic development.
The big picture: The venue also underscores Doral's status as a cultural hub in Miami's ever-changing landscape, as it's the first to venture away from downtown Miami or the beaches.
- Miami's other major venues — the FPL Solar Amphitheater at Bayfront Park, Fillmore Miami Beach, The Kaseya Center, Miami Beach Bandshell or the Knight Concert Hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center — are all east of I-95.
What they're saying: "It's been a long time coming. Bringing this space to life has been a dream for the Doral community," Doral Mayor Christi Fraga said this month at a venue debut for city officials and industry members, the Miami New Times reported.
- The space, she added, is an "opportunity to host big artists in a more personal way while giving local performers and families a place to gather."

Between the lines: The city has for years been one of Miami-Dade's fastest-growing, with its population jumping by more than 42% from 2015 to 2024, according to the city's Economic Development Plan.
By the numbers: The $15 million amphitheater sits in Doral Central Park, the 78-acre, $171 million redevelopment that opened to the public in May, per the New Times. It can accommodate up to roughly 4,700 attendees.
- The venue, designed to host everything from concerts to cultural and civic events and more, is next to the lake.
💠Sommer's thought bubble: If I'm going to a bigger show, I will always opt for an amphitheater setting over a stadium tour.
- There's nothing better than arriving early with a blanket to sit and enjoy a beautiful evening with friends, well before the music even starts.
- The lawn is smaller than FPL's, but hopefully that means the space will offer the more intimate feel that the smaller, standing-only venues around town offer.
What's next: Latin artists Justin Quiles is performing on Halloween, while Nacho is set to perform on Dec. 12.
