Inter Miami, Messi begin MLS playoff run

Inter Miami kicks off their MLS Cup playoff run at home on Friday against Nashville SC in a best-of-three series.

Game 2 is Nov. 1 at Nashville. Game 3, if necessary, will be back in South Florida Nov. 8.

Why it matters: The team has yet to progress past the first round in the playoffs.

But it's also coming off a 5-2 win Saturday against the same team to close out the regular season and Lionel Messi's Golden Boot award.

Yes, but: Messi was out of Tuesday's practice because of minor back discomfort, reported the Miami Herald.

He's expected to return to training Wednesday and be available for Friday's game, per the outlet.
