Miami-set Grand Theft Auto VI delayed to 2026

If you've been looking forward to speeding, shooting and robbing your way through a virtual recreation of South Florida, you'll have to wait until 2026.
- That's because Grand Theft Auto VI, the long-awaited new entry in the video game series set in Vice City (a fictional take on Miami) has been delayed.
State of play: Rockstar Games, which publishes the GTA franchise, announced last week it is pushing the game's release from late this year to May 26, 2026.
What they're saying: "We are very sorry that this is later than you expected," the studio wrote to its fans. "The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team."
- "We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."
