What they're saying: Heat Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade said on his podcast this week that Butler's time in Miami was "ending tragically."

• Wade, who left the team over a contract dispute in 2016 before returning, called it a "stain on our franchise" that player relationships break the way they have in Miami.
• "But also, too, on the other side, you don't run that organization as a player. So you get to that space sometimes where you want to do things your way. It's Pat Riley's way."

The latest: The Athletic reports that Butler plans to rejoin the team after the suspension cost him $2.35 million of his $48.8 million salary — but it's unclear if he will play Friday night (8pm, Fan Duel Sports Network).

What's next: The Heat, who have gone 3-4 during Butler's suspension, have yet to find a trade they like. The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 6.
