The Miami Dolphins can sneak into the playoffs with a win against the New York Jets on Sunday and an assist from the reigning Super Bowl champions.

State of play: Miami (8-8) would earn its third straight trip to the playoffs if they beat the Jets (4-12) in New York and the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Denver Broncos.

Yes, but: The Fins may be without starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for the must-win regular-season finale.

Tagovailoa is dealing with a hip injury that kept him out of last week's game.
Back-up Tyler Huntley is in line to make his fifth start of the season for Miami.

The intrigue: The top-seeded Chiefs are resting superstar QB Patrick Mahomes and other key players for their game against Denver.

Kansas City has already clinched a first-round bye in the playoffs, so Sunday's result is meaningless for them.
The Broncos must win to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

Bottom line: Miami's playoff chances might just rest on the shoulders of two backup quarterbacks.

Both games kick off at 4:25pm. Miami plays on Fox, Kansas City on CBS.
