"Invisible Luggage," the new exhibit at the Historic Hampton House Museum of Culture and Art, features the work of over 50 artists who explore "what is lost and what is maintained as we travel, migrate and carry on."
- "Invisible Luggage," which opens to the public today, touches on themes like freedom, displacement and memory. (The title refers to the "Invisible Man," a book that describes the perceived social invisibility of the Black community.)
- The Hampton House, a Green Book motel during segregation, hosted an opening party where artists and collectors mingled under chandeliers.
Notable pieces include: "5 on #7" by Hugo McCloud, made with plastic merchandise bags on a wood panel, depicts a scooter rider carrying piles of bags.
- Chiffon Thomas builds Bible-skin sculptures that recreate apartment buildings and single-family homes ("Rosenwald Fragment," "Gresham," "Racine.)
- Three works from "The Lovers" series by Marina Abramović, which document the performance artist's 1988 trek across the Great Wall of China with her late partner Ulay.

What else: Wynwood Walls threw an Art Week opening night party to debut its new "Street Art Icons" exhibit.
- Fat Boy Slim performed a DJ set and one attendee brought a stuffed banana to the party, a nod to the Art Basel banana from 2019 conceptional piece "The Comedian."
