Bay Harbor heats up as new condo projects break ground

• The development boom raises traffic questions. The main two roads connecting Bay Harbor to the mainland – the Kane Concourse and Collins Avenue – are frequently gridlocked.

In the past week alone, the following projects have hit key milestones:

La Baia North, one of two condo projects that the Continuum Company has planned for the island, broke ground Tuesday at 9481 East Bay Harbor Dr.

• It will stand eight stories tall and feature 57 units starting at $1.4 million.
• Continuum, the New York developer behind the acquisition of Shuckers Bar and Grill in North Bay Village, has also secured a construction loan to build La Baia South, an eight-story sister tower at 9201 East Bay Harbor Dr.
• The towers, just 80 yards apart, will feature a total of about 50,000 square feet of amenities. The North tower is expected to be completed by 2027.

The Signature Collection by La Maré, the first of three buildings Regency Development Group has planned for the area, recently broke ground at 9781 East Bay Harbor Dr.

• The "opulent" nine-unit project, with prices starting at $3 million, is expected to be completed by 2026.
• It will feature a marina big enough for yachts up to 45 feet and a pickup and drop-off boat rental service.
