Amara at Paraiso chef wins Food Network's "Ciao House"

• Now, he's coming back to Miami as the show's newest "Capo di Casa." (Barros was living in Los Angeles prior to the show's start.)

How it worked: On the show, 12 up-and-coming chefs lived together in an Italian villa and cooked in an elimination-style competition.

• The last chef standing was named the "Head of the House."

The intrigue: Zev Bennett, from Miami, and Phuoc Vo, from Tampa, were among the 12 competitors.

Flashback: After a stint at Miami Dade College's nursing school, Barros studied at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts while working in kitchens, the Miami New Times reported.

• He worked as a line cook at Scarpetta in Miami Beach before moving to New York City and then Los Angeles.

What he's saying: "I hope it opens the doors to more things, [and] I hope more people realize that I'm the chef at Amara," Barros told the Miami New Times on winning the reality competition. "I hope more people come to Amara."
