Outdoor Voices ditches retail before Miami store could open

Turns out, Outdoor Voices isn't "coming soon" to Miami after all.

Why it matters: The athleisure brand, which teased on social media in September that its Coconut Grove storefront would be opening soon, shocked employees and fans this week with the news that all its retail stores are closing.

The big picture: Miami was among the few cities the Austin-based brand chose to open — or planned to open — locations in, including Washington, D.C., Denver, Atlanta and Charlotte.

Yes, but: An internal message obtained by Axios told retail employees that "Outdoor Voices is embarking on a new chapter as we transition to an exclusively online business."

What we're watching: The intended storefront is nestled between Warby Parker and Panther Coffee on Main Highway — a prime location in Coconut Grove — but it's unclear what will take its place.
